A Vishnu temple at Sriperumbudur, the birthplace of the Vaishnava teacher Ramanuja, carrying Vijayanagara inscriptions of 1556 and 1572 and combining Chola and Vijayanagara features. It is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Endowment Board.
The temple's legend tells how Ramanuja travelled to Delhi to recover a stolen image, which fell of its own accord into his lap.
