A temple at Kamtaul in Darbhanga district dedicated to Ahalya, wife of the sage Gautama, built between 1662 and 1682 under Maharaja Chhatra Singh and Maharaja Rudra Singh. It is described as the earliest Ram-Janaki temple in India.
The spot is remembered as the place where Ahalya, turned to stone by a curse after Indra's deception, rose again in her own body when Rama came there with Lakshmana and Vishvamitra.
