A cluster of twenty-three Nagara-plan shrines at Alampur raised between the 9th and 11th centuries under the Rashtrakutas and later Chalukyas. With the neighbouring Navabrahma temples they formed the Brahmeshvara tirtha, a Kalamukha and Pashupata Shaiva centre of wide regional influence until the Delhi Sultanate raids of the 14th-15th centuries; the Archaeological Survey of India shifted the group to higher ground after 1980 to save it from the Srisailam reservoir.
