A goddess temple at Udaipur completed in Vikram Samvat 1721, corresponding to 1664, by Maharana Raj Singh of Mewar, on the spot where an image of the goddess was dug out of the ground.
Raj Singh, suffering from an eye ailment no physician could cure, was preparing to travel to the Ambika Mata shrine in the Arbuda hills when the goddess told him in a dream that she would come to Mewar instead; the image was unearthed where she indicated and his sight was restored.
