A hilltop shrine to the yakshi Ambika on Girnar, its earliest temple traced to the middle of the 8th century and the standing building to the 15th, after patronage by Vastupala and Tejapala and a rebuilding funded by the merchant Samal Sah in 1468. It draws Hindu as well as Jain pilgrims.
Newly married couples visit to tie their garments together and make offerings, in the belief that the goddess will grant them a long and happy marriage.
