A vast Buddhist complex in Gia Vien district combining an older mountainside temple with a new 700-hectare precinct built between 2003 and 2010, among the largest in Vietnam. Its halls follow traditional Vietnamese forms, with corner eaves curving up like a phoenix tail, the Tam The hall rising 34 metres; stone, timber and tiles were sourced locally and the fittings made by regional craft villages. Mountain spirits are venerated at the site alongside the Buddhas.
