The principal temple of Kendrapara district, Odisha, at Ichhapur or Tulasi Kshetra, where Balarama rather than Jagannath is the presiding deity. An earlier shrine was demolished in 1661 under Aurangzeb and the images hidden along the Govari river before the present temple was built in 1761 by the Kujanga ruler Gopal Sandha with the zamindar Srinivas Narendra Mahapatra.
