A hilltop Bhairab temple about 9 km northwest of Tansen in Palpa District, at roughly 1,470 m, established by King Mukunda Sen of the Sena dynasty during the period when Palpa was his capital.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Mukunda Sen is said to have carried off an image of Bhairav from the Matsyendranath temple during his attack on Kathmandu and to have installed it here in Palpa.
