A twin-shrine complex at the foot of Nandi Hills, the northern Bhoganandishwara being the older and the Arunachaleswara added soon after, and described as the oldest surviving temple in the Nolambavadi manner of Dravidian architecture. Ganga, Hoysala and Vijayanagara rulers each added to it, and it is now a nationally protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
