A shrine at Bijayapur near Dharan venerating the spirit of Buddhi Karna Raya Khebang Limbu, the last Limbu king, who was killed in 1773; local Limbu people began worshipping his wandering soul at his tomb as an old king, and he is honoured as a protective deity.

Shiva and Parvati are said to have come to Vijayapur in disguise on a hunt, planted their bows in the ground and sat in penance, vanishing when they sensed the approach of Kali Yuga, while bamboo sprouted from the bows they left behind.
