History & significance

The oldest Sikh congregation in Singapore, founded in 1912 on Queen Street with support from Sindhi merchants and the Straits Settlements Police and moved to a purpose-built shrine on Towner Road constructed between 1984 and 1986. The Guru Granth Sahib was installed in April 1986 and the building was opened by President Wee Kim Wee that November.
