History & significance

Delhi's second-largest temple complex, founded in 1974 and spread over some 28 hectares with more than twenty shrines in three precincts. It draws its largest crowds during Navaratri.

Sthala katha — the traditional account

What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.

Devotees tie threads to an old tree near the entrance in the belief that wishes made there are granted.
