History & significance

A Shiva temple on Mint Street in George Town, Chennai, built in the 1680s by Alanganatha Pillai, a dubash to the British East India Company. It appears on a 1710 map of Madras as 'Allingall's Pagoda' and stands among the Jain shrines and the Kandaswami temple of the same street.
