A public shrine in central Bangkok housing a four-faced image of Phra Phrom, the Thai form of Brahma, which the Fine Arts Department designed and enshrined on 9 November 1956 for the state-owned Erawan Hotel. It has remained one of the city's busiest devotional sites even after the original hotel was demolished in 1987 and replaced by the Grand Hyatt Erawan, and it is a much-cited example of Hindu, Buddhist and Thai animist worship converging at one altar.
The shrine is said to have been raised to offset the bad karma of laying the hotel's foundation on an inauspicious date, after which the accidents and delays that had plagued the building work reportedly stopped.
