History & significance

A Murugan shrine in Triplicane founded in 1845 on land given by a woman named Pachayammal and regarded by its devotees as an eighth padaiveedu of the god; the Bhajaneshwara music group formed in 1978 raised funds for its rebuilding.

Its kavadi procession recalls the demon Hidumba, credited in legend with carrying the two hills of Palani.
