A temple to the Shegaon saint Gajanan Maharaj at Kanhor in Kulgaon-Badlapur, Thane district, opened on Vijaya Dashami in 1981 on land given free by Vitthalrao Raut. Its Seva Samiti dates from the same year and has kept the Prakat Din Utsav annually since.
The temple is said to have been begun after the devotee Shripadrao Kulkarni was directed to it in a dream, and an audumbar tree that sprang up beside the chosen site was taken as a sign.
