Begun in 1779 by Parasuram Bhau Patwardhan, Sar-Senapati to the Peshwa, and finished by his son Appa Patwardhan in 1799, this temple is known for its 29 m gopura and for an idol whose trunk curves to the right. Its 30 ft chariot procession the day after Bhadrapada Chaturthi has run since 1785.
