A gurdwara at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar marking a site associated with Guru Nanak's visit, built between 1866 and 1935. It was demolished in 1979 when the administration acquired the land to widen the ghat, and the site remains contested ground for the Sikh community.
Tradition holds that Guru Nanak, visiting Haridwar around 1504, threw water westward while Brahmins offered it to the east, telling them he was watering his fields at Kartarpur.
