Set on the slopes of the Gandhamardan hills in Balangir, this shrine joins Vishnu and Shiva in a single dedication. The deity is said to have been found in the fourteenth century by a Chauhan king of the Patna kingdom and the temple raised at the order of queen Durlabha Devi; the plateau between it and Nrusinghanath holds Buddhist ruins associated with the ancient Parimalgiri seat of learning.
