हिडिम्बा देवी मंदिर
Manali, Himachal Pradesh · 32.2423°, 77.1874°
A wooden temple in the deodar forest of Dhungri, Manali, raised over the cave where the goddess is said to have meditated. It is the focus of the town's spring fair and of Navaratri worship, and is prized for its carved timber doorway and tiered roofs.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Hidimbi married the Pandava Bhima after he killed her brother Hidimb, and their son was the giant Ghatotkacha.
