A Shiva temple on a rock shelf above the Mahanadi some 23 km from Sambalpur, rebuilt by the Chauhan king Baliar Singh and extended under Ajit Singh, with an earlier foundation credited to Anangabhima Deva III. It is one of very few deliberately noted leaning temples in the world, tilting about 13.8 degrees while its finial stays vertical; whether river scour or earthquake caused the tilt is unresolved.
A milkman is said to have crossed the river daily to pour milk on a bare rock here, which drank it each time, and the temple was raised where the miracle happened.
