A Digambara Jain complex at Kundalpur near Nalanda, built in 2003 in yellow Jaisalmer stone with a shikhara about 51 feet high beside an older temple on the same ground, and run by the Bhagwan Mahavira Janmabhoomi Kundalpur Digambar Jain Samiti. Digambaras hold Kundalpur, an ancient Licchavi capital, to be Mahavira's birthplace, while other Jain traditions point instead to Basukund near Vaishali.
Four of Mahavira's eleven ganadharas, Gautama Swami among them, are believed to have been born here.
