A twentieth-century shrine at Khrew commissioned by Raja Daya Krishna Kaul to Jwala Ji, the family goddess of many Kashmiri Hindu households. Kalhana's Rajatarangini names the village as Khaduvi and describes its springs; the annual Jwalamukhi fair here is kept by Hindus and Muslims alike.

The goddess is said to have shown herself first as a radiant flame, and to have settled here for good after stopping the gods on their way to seize Kubera's treasure.
