Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh · 23.2182°, 75.7686°
The temple of Ujjain's guardian deity Kal Bhairav, on the bank of the Shipra, standing on older remains that yielded Paramara-period images of Shiva, Parvati, Vishnu and Ganesha. The present Maratha-style building with its deepmalika lamp tower is credited to a restoration by Mahadaji Shinde after 1761, and liquor is still offered to the deity as one of the five tantric panchamakara offerings.
