Kalijai Island, Chilika Lake, Khordha district, Odisha · 19.6651°, 85.2160°
A Shakta shrine on an island in Chilika Lake, recorded as built in 1717 by Jagannath Mansingh, king of Bankad (present-day Banapur). It draws large crowds at the annual Makar Sankranti fair each January.
The goddess is said to be Jaai, a newly married girl who drowned when her boat capsized in a cyclone while crossing Chilika to her husband's island home, and whom the lake's people afterwards venerated as a deity.
