Built in the eighth century as a sun temple inside Chittor Fort, wrecked in the sack of 1303 and rebuilt in Rana Kumbha's reign as a shrine of the goddess. It is the clan deity of the Gaur Rajputs and fills with pilgrims during Navratri.
