History & significance

A Kali shrine on a 2,090 m ridge in the Bironkhal block of Pauri Garhwal, rebuilt around 2010 with a lotus-bud shikhara and run by the Garhwal-Almora Kali Mandir Vikas Samiti, a cooperative of about a dozen surrounding villages.

Sthala katha — the legend

A Badiyaari shepherd is said to have been told in a vision to raise a shrine, and to have piled up rocks into a mound on the mountain top.
