The first temple of the Swaminarayan Sampraday, begun in 1819 and inaugurated on 24 February 1822 at Kalupur in Ahmedabad, and the seat of the NarNarayan Dev Gadi. Its Burma-teak carving mixes Rajasthani and Marathi folk motifs with Mughal and Corinthian elements, and includes panels depicting the 1857 rebellion.
