The shrine of Kamaksha at Jaidevi in Mandi district is the tutelary deity of the Suket royal house and a Himachali form of the goddess Kamakhya. It anchors the regional festival calendar, above all the Suket fair.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
The goddess is said to have been carried from the old Suket capital at Pangana to the new palace when King Shyam Sen moved his seat, and the temple was raised for her at Jaidevi.
