One of Ayodhya's principal shrines, housing images of Rama and Sita in a palace-like building rebuilt in 1891 by Maharani Vrishabhan Kunwari and Maharaj Mahendra Pratap Singh. Its form deliberately echoes the palaces of Rajasthan and Bundelkhand.

Tradition holds that Kaikeyi gave this golden mansion to Rama and Sita as their private residence immediately after their marriage.
