One of the foremost pilgrimage centres of Maharashtra, this hilltop temple to Khandoba is the family deity shrine of farming, Brahmin and Dhangar communities across the Deccan.
Khandoba is said to have descended as an avatar of Shiva to subdue the demon brothers Mani and Malla, killing one and pardoning the other when he vowed to serve people.
