A three-peaked hill shrine in Palnadu district whose exact foundation date is unknown but which received land and cattle grants from the Eastern Chalukyas and Kakatiyas between the 9th and 14th centuries. Vijayanagara rulers added Dravidian mandapams and gopurams, and the temple is now administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
The god is linked to Anandavalli, a cowherd woman whose fierce devotion is said to have drawn Shiva from Rudra Shikharam to Brahma Shikharam, where he settled as the lingam of the present temple.
