A modern temple founded in 1980 by Swami Sambha Shiva Murthy at Kammasandra in Kolar district, whose 15 acres hold a main Shivalinga 108 feet high, an 11-metre Nandi and roughly 650,000 smaller lingas donated by devotees and inscribed with their names. Eleven subsidiary shrines and pilgrim facilities stand on the site, which fills with visitors at Maha Shivaratri.
The first lingas are said to have been set up by a former atheist who became a devotee of Shiva, a story retold in the 2001 film Sri Manjunatha.
