The first Hindu temple granted permission to be built in Islamabad, on land allotted to the Pakistan Hindu Panchayat in 2016, with a groundbreaking in June 2020 and a government grant approved days afterwards. Construction had still not started as of 2025; the site was attacked and vandalised four times and its boundary wall pulled down in 2020.
