History & significance
A stupa at Lahugala in the Ampara District, one of only four structures of the Kota Vehera type known in Sri Lanka. Inscriptions at the site, of the first and second centuries CE, name kings including Bhatika Tissa, Kutakanna Tissa and Gajabahu I.
