Formally Sree Sree 108 Karunamoyee Kalimata Mandir, this Kali temple on Southern Avenue was founded in 1949 by Haripada Chakraborty and began as a thatched hut before being rebuilt in masonry. Run by the Karunamoyee Kalimata Trust, it has been under reconstruction since 2002 and also holds shrines to Bagala, Santoshi Maa and, from 2020, Dhumavati.
The founder is said to have been told by Kali in a vision to install her image, and when he pleaded that he was too poor to pay for her worship, the goddess assured him she would meet the cost herself.
