A Shiva temple in the Jaunsar-Bawar hills above the Yamuna, whose surviving shikhara is dated to the 12th–13th century while brick remains on the site go back several centuries earlier. A sixth-century inscription found here records that a princess named Ishwara of Singhpura raised a shrine in memory of her husband Chandragupta, and Archaeological Survey excavations have recovered a large quantity of sculpture around it.
Local tradition ties the site to the Mahabharata, holding that this is where Duryodhana built the lac house in which he meant to burn the Pandavas alive.
