A Kalinga-style deula raised in 1550 by the ruling family of Aul for Varaha, the boar incarnation of Vishnu, worshipped here with Lakshmi. After roughly five centuries of decay it was restored in the 20th century by Brajasundar Dev, the late king of Aul.
The king of Aul, cut off from his usual worship at the Biraja temple by floods, dreamed the deity had come to his house; walking home he heard footsteps behind him that stopped at Aul, and there he built the temple.
