History & significance

A Narasimha temple near Hosur built around a swayambhu stone identified in 1998 during land development and still being extended; the land was made over to the Ahobila Mutt, and Narasimha Jayanti is the principal festival.

The shrine recalls Vishnu bursting from the pillar as Narasimha, pleased by the devotion of Prahlada.
