The oldest Jain temple in Old Delhi, begun when a Jain officer in the Mughal army kept a Tirthankara image for worship and other Jain soldiers gathered around it, formally established in 1656. It holds marble images installed in 1491 and runs a well-known bird hospital treating some fifteen thousand birds a year.
Aurangzeb is said to have banned drums at the temple, only for drumming to keep sounding from it under inspection, until he came himself and lifted the ban.
