The oldest Buddhist site in Odisha and part of the Diamond Triangle, with an apsidal chaitya-griha, four monasteries and a stupa that yielded relic caskets, showing occupation from the 3rd century BCE through the Tantric period.
The site was once identified with the Pushpagiri Vihara described by Xuanzang, though excavation later placed Pushpagiri at Langudi hill.
