A rock-built temple near Pilimatalawa raised in the reign of Bhuvanekabahu IV and overseen by his chief minister Senalankadhikara, regarded as the finest building of the Gampola period. Designed by the South Indian architect Sathapati Rayar with Pandya sculptors from Tamil Nadu, it sets a Buddha image among six Hindu devales and was declared a protected monument in 1949.
