History & significance

A stupa in Dagon Township, Yangon, built in 1980 to commemorate the First Congregation for the purification of the Buddha Sasana, out of which came the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee. It enshrines relics contributed by the King of Nepal, and Ne Win consecrated its crowning umbrella.
