A temple of the goddess Mahalakshmi in Dahanu taluka of Palghar district, recorded as built in 1306 by the Koli king Jayaba Mukne at the founding of Jawhar State. It is a major pilgrimage draw in the coastal Palghar region.
Local tradition says the goddess, first worshipped atop Mahalakshmi Gad hill, came down to settle at the foot of the hill for the sake of a devotee who could no longer climb it.
