History & significance

A Shvetambara Jain pilgrimage complex founded by the monk Buddhisagarsuri, its foundation stone laid in 1916 and the temple established the following year. Scholars credit it with turning the worship of the protective deity Ghantakarna Mahavir from a largely private monastic transmission into a public devotional cult that now draws well beyond the Jain community.
