An extensive ancient Buddhist settlement in Logar province with monasteries, dwellings and more than 400 Buddha statues spread over some 40 hectares, at its height between the 5th and 7th centuries CE. Coins of the Alchon rulers Khingila and Mehama date part of the occupation to around 450-500 CE; the site declined from the 8th century and has since been excavated under the threat of copper mining.
