Marks Guru Nanak's visit to Bidar during his second southern missionary journey (1510–1514) and the perennial spring, the Nanak Jhira, that has flowed at the spot ever since. The gurdwara was built in 1948 and draws four to five lakh pilgrims a year, with a continuous langar and a museum honouring Guru Tegh Bahadur.
It is said that, moved by the villagers' shortage of water, Guru Nanak moved a stone aside with his wooden sandal and a stream of cool fresh water sprang out.
