A large ruined stupa at Lahugala set in a monastic complex of some 36 hectares, credited either to Kavan Tissa or to Bhatikabhaya. Excavation recovered a golden casket whose inscription led archaeologists to identify the contents as relics of the Buddha, and an inscription records a grant by Queen Chula Sivalee.
