An archaeological monastery site of about three hectares in the Ampara District, dated to the fifth century or earlier and formally identified by the Department of Archaeology in 1956. Its image house holds a 3.5 m granite Buddha, restored in 2008, and its stupa stands on an unusual octagonal platform rather than the customary circular or square one.
