History & significance

A Digambara Jain atishaya kshetra at Shivdaspura, some 35 km from Jaipur, built in white marble with an 85-foot spire around a red stone image of the sixth Tirthankara Padmaprabha. The image was unearthed in 1944 by a farmer, Moola Jat, while digging the foundation of his house, and the temple was raised the following year with land and funds given by the businessman Mahorilal Godha.

Sthala katha — the legend

Villagers hold that once the image was found the settlement's water scarcity ended, its cattle stopped dying and its harvests grew abundant, and that prayer here relieves physical and mental affliction.
